I ran into that profile trying to add me as a friend. I might of accepted since the picture is cute lol. But either way, just looking at the profiles about me, the link by far does not look like a video link for starters, and for seconds there are millions of fake accounts on Facebook. Also, why would she not be using Facebook’s built in video function to share her “home video”. The fakes are usually created for games, or spreading malware. People have to be careful on what they click at all times, it don’t matter where it comes from. I mean if you want go crazy paranoid all your wi-fi traffic could get re-routed anywhere.
Just the other day I ran into a picture with well over 10,000 tags, guess what that created a major e-mail spam list. Facebook wont even let you report the image if your tagged, so good luck and have fun un-tagging your self. (If the browser wont crash that is).
So to keep safe
- Use a VPN to surf if you have no router (public wi-fi).
- Have some kind of router between your modem and computer.
- Keep weekly backups so you can restore your PC without having to reinstall everything.
When Facebook attacks, it’s not pretty. We were just remarking on how new ways of spreading malware were plaguing social media, and now the second Facebook-related scam in the past week appears to be spreading.
